Nat'l OHV Day 2003

Welcome to Dennis' Jeepin', off-roadin', and guitar pickin' home page!

This page is sort of like a Jeep...always under construction
My current rig is a '95 Jeep YJ sporting Rubicon Express' Extreme Duty 4.5" suspension lift, which gives YJ's the flex every Jeeper deserves! A 3" body lift keeps the 33x12.5 BFG Mud Terrains off the body metal. She has a Detroit locker in the rear, and a Warn 6000# winch for those days I think I'm up to things I shouldn't be.
We now have an '88 XJ Wagoneer in the stable! It grenaded the t-case on it's way back from Colorado, and the previous owner wanted to find a new home for the XJ. So I took it in, nursed it back to health, and will use it for a daily driver. See the "Project XJ" page for more info. I'll add to the page as the XJ *grows*!
This year also saw the purchase of a trailer for the YJ to ride on. We went with an 83" wide utility type trailer, so we can us it for other things when the YJ isn't riding on it. It's so much nicer to trailer the Jeep than flat tow it.

Future Mods for the YJ.....

Updated 3/14

The Ford 9" is in, and the front gear swap done! Thanks go out to Sunray Engineering and Baertrax for their fine work. No front locker for now since the current budget was about drained. So now to start putting some spare cash together for the TeraLow 4:1 and some 35" tires later this year.

Favorite places to wheel
Our favorite place for scenery is the Colorado Rockies. To test our driving skills, it's Moab Utah, and Katency Rocks here in Texas. One sandstone, one granite. Both sure to lure you into pushing the envelope! Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area in Gilmer, Texas is also a fun place to spend a weekend wheelin' . ANd there's the new AGR WHeelin' Ranch near Nacoana, Texas. Mostly for the big dogs, but still fun, and much closer to the house.

The Guitars.....

My other love is guitars and music. I mostly play fingerstyle and blues. 2003 brought me the good fortune to be able to attend the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society's convention in Nashville. What fun to hang out up close and personal with people like Thom Bresh, Buster Jones, Tommy Flint, Eddie Pennington, and Steve Rector. I also had the pleasure to meet Spider Rich. Sadly, he passed away in November, 2003. Then I got to attend an all day workshop at Winfield with Tommy Emmanuel and Pete Huttlinger. Talk about nervous? Try playing a tune with Tommy when he's 3 feet away!

And to start 2004 off right, I'll be attending two workshops with Stephen Bennett in February. One is titled "Guitar Torture Session"! So I better get busy and practice!!!

Again, welcome to my web site. Look around and enjoy!
Actually, I don't have blonde hair. But I try to live up to my name....just ask anyone who knows me!

Want to see what I've been up to lately?

OK,OK....I'm getting a few new things in here! The 2004 family wheelin' trip is a toss up between moab and Colorado. We just can't seem to decide which one we'd rather do over the other.

On the new rig side of things, like I need more to do and spend money on. There's an old FC-170 and a 50's-something Willys truck that will be making the journey to Texas as soon as I have time to go get them. Thanks Willie!!! I owe ya big time!
