Guitars, and more Guitars......
A fellow picker asked me where the geetars were on my web site, so here's a few of them!
I've been playing off and on since I was 12. The past few years I have returned to acoustic music, and playing fingerstyle. Which explains the long fingernails you'll see on my right hand. I use DR "Rare Phosphor" strings exclusivly on all my acoustic guitars, and their "Pure Blues" on my electrics. These strings have served me very well. There's a long list of pickers and musicians that have influenced my playing. From pro's to good friends, they have all been a great help in one way or another. Lately guitarists like Stephen Bennett, Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Simson, and Leo Kottke have kept the fingerpickin' fires going. The late Chet Atkins has undoubtedly influenced thousands of young guitarists, and I was one of them. I can't begin to play in his style, but he has always amazed me with his great ability to find wonderful melodies to play for us. Each September you can find me wandering about the camp ground and stages of the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield Kansas. A great acoustic music festival! I have had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic players, and good friends there. 2001 will always be a very special year, as I arrived there on September 11th. With the world as we know it falling apart at the seams, everybody pulled together to make the festival a success. If you ever had any doubts of the healing power of music, Winfield 2001 would have changed your mind forever! I can't begin to put the feelings into words. You just had to be there to experience and understand it.

The proverbial "main axe"
The favorite of the bunch is my Takamine 1999 LTD Edition. It has on board digital electronics and chromatic tuner! Not to mention a great sound and she plays great! It was THE first one to hit the music shops in the north Texas area! I made "the deal" with the Takamine rep at the Dallas Guitar Show on a Saturday. And had to wait patiently until Monday for the shop to open so I could pick it up. |

Walnut Ovation Elite
OK, I know what you're thinking! But this Ovation is the only one I have ever heard that actually has a good tone, both plugged in, AND unplugged! From what I have found, this guitar was built in 1992, and was put in as a production model after it's popularity in the custom shop line ( so I'm told ). I have seen only one other, and it was one from the Ovation Custom shop. No Ovation I've heard, past or present even comes close to the tone and volume of this one. Which is why I bought it in the first place. |

And now for something completely different....
After adding the Epiphone Resonator to the stable, my wife wanted me to get a banjo. Darn things simply do not have enough strings on them! Enter the Deering Boston 6, 6-string Banjitar. It tunes and plays like a guitar, but has the "twang" of a banjo. The wife insisted I get it, which is a very rare occurence! |

1976 Fender Stratocaster
Here's one you don't see every day! A "hard tail" strat. No whammy bar! I've had it since 1978, and she's been in more dives than I care to remember. Just give John Mayall's tune "Jacksboro Highway" a listen to find the names of a few of them!

1972 Thin Line Telecaster Re-Issue
This guitar was a Valentine's Day present from my wife! It came to me dressed in a red "teddy", lying in it's tweed case. It's along story, but what a great present! |

1963 Fender "Super" Amp
Me and this ol' girl have been together for nearly 20 years! I love tube amps, and the old Fenders simply can't be beat for tone. Even my acoustics sound good through this amp. But my Strat and Tele do it much more justice! |
